iAsk: HOW DO I HANDLE A JEALOUS SPOUSE?

iAsk: HOW DO I HANDLE A JEALOUSE SPOUSE?

A: Jealousy is a sense of uneasiness or anxiety stemming from fear of preference being given to another, or fear of loss of position or affection.

Actually, you can’t handle jealousy. You can, however, confirm your love by acts of attention and affection and by words of admiration and appreciation. But only God can resolve jealousy in a spouse.

You can participate with Him by consistently walking in love toward your spouse. Ask the Lord to help you walk in love according to 1 Corinthians 13:

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited—arrogant and inflated with pride; it is not rude (unmannerly), and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it—it pays no attention to a suffered wrong. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails... (verses 4-8).

Allowing the Spirit of Love to prevail in your own life and praying always for it to prevail for your spouse will open the door of his/her heart to resolve the the issue of jealousy.

Confess the qualities of love laid out in these scriptures over your spouse and thank God daily for revealing and manifesting true love in both your lives. You cannot change your spouse’s heart, but God certainly can!

E’dena Hines, the 33-year-old step-granddaughter of Hollywood A-Lister Morgan Freeman, was stabbed to death early Sunday in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, reports the New York Daily News.

The incident happened at around 3:30 a.m. Police were responding to a call and discovered Hines in the street. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man, believed to be Hines’ boyfriend, was discovered kneeling over her body. A knife was confiscated and he was arrested at the scene.

Morgan Freeman released the following statement:

The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.

What a tragedy for her family and friends all round. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them. Rest in peace E’Dena.

UPDATED 08.17.15 12:47 pm

The man who fatally stabbed E’Dena Hines, the step-granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman, has been charged with murder.

According to Pix11, police revealed Hines’ boyfriend, 30-year-old Lamar Davenport, is currently under psychiatric evaluation at a local hospital. He was brought in as an “emotionally disturbed person” early Sunday morning after he was seen stabbing Hines to death near her home in the Washington Heights area of New York. Hines was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw.

Some have called her death an apparent “exorcism.”

A witness who saw the stabbing from his window said he heard screams from the actress as Davenport said he needed to “get the demons out.”

Pix11 reports:

“I heard two screeches and I looked out my window,” neighbor George Hudacko said. “I heard him mumbling ‘God’ and ‘Jesus,’ and his hand was moving up and down. So I ran to call police.”

Police arrived on scene, but it was too late — Hines died on the way to the hospital. Friends of Hines said they saw her and Davenport during dinner on Saturday evening and everything appeared to be normal. The 33-year-old had just wrapped up a film scheduled to be released next year. After studying acting at New York University, she headed to Memphis, Tennessee to teach acting to underprivileged youth.

Hines recently moved back to New York to perform at several theaters. She often blogged about her experiences.

Davenport now faces a second-degree murder charge for her death.
